

Gladys Mae Puckett-Moreau was born in Arkansas on July 6, 1918 to Etta Almeda Sangster Puckett and John T. Puckett. She had an older brother, Lee Edward. The family moved from Batesville to Tuckerman then to Franklin in 1911 where her father opened a pharmacy. In 1933 the family moved to Altus, Oklahoma and opened a pharmacy. There, Gladys attended Altus High School and was Drum Major of "That Altus Band", her senior year of 1936. She attended Altus Junior College, then on to Abiline Christian College in Texas where she earned her teaching degree. Back in Oklahoma, she taught home economics in Duke. On August 8, 1948 she married Ira Howard Moreau of Olustee. They made their home in Altus and had 3 children, John Howard, James Raymond and Iretta Louise. She was a member of the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ. After Howard’s passing in 1989, she maintained her parent’s house until the age of 90. She moved to Arizona to live with her daughter and her husband in October 2008. They attended the Olive Street Church of Christ. In 2011 Gladys went to stay at Desert Winds Assisted Living. She passed away there on October 21, 2013. She was a great friend to anyone blessed to know her. Condolences may be left for the family at www.advantagefunerals.com.
