
Joyce Marie Henderson, born October 1, 1943, in Harlem, New York, passed away peacefully in Goodyear, Arizona. She was the daughter of the late John and Juanita Henderson and was raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York.
Joyce attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Jamaica, Queens, earning her high school diploma. She spent approximately 30 years working in the hospitality industry, building a career centered around serving and interacting with others.
Joyce had a love for music, game shows, professional wrestling, and basketball, with the Phoenix Suns being a particular favorite. She especially enjoyed watching Steve Nash during his years with the Suns. She also enjoyed traveling, laughing, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to honor her memory are her three children, Maurice Henderson, Juanita Darby, and Derrick Henderson; her son-in-law, Bryan Darby; and her four grandchildren, Sharonna, Mia, Maurice Jr., and Aaron; as well as her great-grand son, Hayden.
She is also survived by her older sister, Sylvia Henderson; her niece, Luki; her nephew, Ron-Erik; and many cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Joyce's life spanned more than eight decades, from her early years in New York to her later years in Arizona. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her sense of humor, her enjoyment of sports and entertainment, and the experiences she shared with family and friends.
