She was born on June 25, 1941 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Ralph and Melba Miller of Deer River, Minnesota. Judith attended Hamline University and became a teacher in the Twin Cities. She married Larry Schedin and they had three children, Jeffrey Schedin, Joanna Bejarano, and Jen Sarafina.
After a divorce, she married David Hodgins on March 1, 1987, whom she had known since high school and who also attended Hamline University. After they both retired, they first settled in their lake home in Amery Wisconsin where she and David maintained stunning gardens. They moved to Sun City West in the summer of 2005 and tended to their beautiful rose bushes and other plants. They also joined and were active members of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church. Judith was an active volunteer and leader in many organizations, including the local chapter of the American Association of University Women, the Sheriff’s Posse, the Garden Club, Connections, and numerous weekly bridge clubs. She and David were avid travelers and music lovers and would escape the hot Arizona summers to Logan, Utah, where they enjoyed the Summer Citizens education and music program at Utah State University.
Judith is survived by her three children, five grandchildren (Zigfield, Aoki, Anya, Dylan and Layla), and her sister Jane. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, David.
