
Warren Charles Anderson passed into eternal rest, after a brief illness, at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, AZ at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 19. 2015. Warren was born September 10, 1921 in Lyon County, Tracy, MN to the late Pete Charles Anderson and Elizabeth Miner Anderson. Warren finished 3 years of Engineering School in college. He was then drafted into the Army during WWII. He served in the US Army Air Corp with the 31st Fighter group, 15th Air Force in N. Africa and stationed in the boot of Italy from Nov. 3, 1943 to Dec. 22, 1945 as a fighter pilot flying a P-51 Mustang. After 25 missions over Berlin, Warren received an EAME Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, 1 Air Medal with 1 OLC, and a Presidential Citation with 1 OLC, and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. Warren then worked 26 years, for the US Army Conservation in the Department of Agriculture and then the US Army Corp of Engineers. During that time he worked on Gavens Point Dam in SD and the NORAD Underground Security Facility in Colorado Springs, CO. Warren retired from the Army Corp. of Engineers in 1973. Then back to work for Maricopa County Flood Control District for 14 years. He then retired for the 2nd time and lived in Arizona from 1975 until his passing. Warren was predeceased by his two sons, Steven and Mike Anderson; his parents and his sister, Maxine Virginia Anderson. Warren is survived by his wife Donna Maria Anderson; daughters Barbara Pimental, Mt. Dora, FL and Cheryl Schaefer, Albuquerque, NM and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Willow Brook UMC where a Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Chapel. Memorial may be made to the local Alzheimer’s Foundation.
