William Bradley Diveley Jr. passed away May 21 in Glendale, AZ, surrounded by loving family members. Bill was born April 26, 1942 in Elkhart, IN to William Bradley Sr. and Beverly June Walter Diveley. He is survived by his sons George (Laurie) of Albuquerque, NM, Michael of Glendale, AZ and Clinton (Erika) of Flagstaff, AZ. Bill was also the proud grandfather of Heather, Keith and Madilyn and great-grandfather to Avah. His brother Rick (Nancy) of Mesa, AZ also survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Diana.
Bill graduated from Scottsdale High School and then served in the U.S. Army. After an honorable discharge, he obtained his accounting degree from ASU. In the early 1970s Bill’s employer transferred him to their new acquisition, Baca Grande Angel Fire Corp., a ski/golf resort in Angel Fire, NM, for “six months”. He ended up staying many years in the accounting department, often quoting the resort’s slogan “The hardest thing to do is leave”. Bill also spent a season as an accountant at the Red River, NM ski area. Bill eventually returned to Angel Fire Corp., this time as General Manager. During this time he also became the second Mayor of Angel Fire after having served on the inaugural Village Council. In the early 1990s he moved to Las Vegas, NV to work for Del Webb Corporation as Executive Director of the Sun City Community Association at three different Sun City communities in the Vegas area. Over the years Bill was also active on various boards including the Cimarron School Board in NM and the inaugural board of Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas. Bill enjoyed golfing, talking old cars and was a life-long die hard Chicago Cubs fan. One of his happiest trips was to the Mecca - Wrigley Field - to watch his beloved Cubs. He took his family to many cities to watch the Cubs lose in various ballparks across the country. He never gave up and was richly rewarded in 2016 when they brought home that World Series trophy. The icing on the cake was that he was able to celebrate that Series with Mike and Clint, who he passed the love of Cubs down to in glorious fashion.
Bill’s greatest joys were his sons and grandkids. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews, including nephew Jacob who he helped raise. Bill will be enormously missed. The family will have graveside services July, 31, 2021 in Scottsdale at Green Acres Cemetery. If anyone would like to make a donation to Parkinson’s research, the family would be most grateful.
