

William Kenneth (Kenny) Duffy, 90, of Sun City, AZ, died on June 4, 2014. Born on March 3, 1924, in Dubuque, IA, he was the youngest child of Mary Ellen (Heffernan) and Alphonsus J. Duffy. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and then in the US Navy. During WWII, he received the Purple Heart. In 1946, he married Marion Whitelaw; they had one child, Colleen Patricia Mary, and resided in Dubuque, IA, and Minneapolis, MN. After the war, he worked with his brothers in their night club, The Playmor, in East Dubuque, IL, and later became a successful salesman. He relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1971. Surviving are his wife, Lillie A. Duffy; his daughter, Colleen, and son, Joseph; and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Rita (Glenn) Shaw, Mildred (Clarence) Schaller, Damian J. (Gertrude), Vincent F. (Madelyn), Sylvester (infant), and Clarence W. (Barbara) Duffy; and his beloved dog, Putzer. A military service will be held at 9:00 am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ, where his ashes will be interred. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion, 9847 W Desert Cove Ave, Peoria, AZ.
