You were my birthday buddy and an amazing friend at Mission Elementary.  I still remember us “ditching” in 4th grade.  We sat outside of our classroom doing mad libs while the rest of the class had to look up spelling word definitions.  Birthdays won’t be the same.

I will always be so grateful that you came into my life. You mean the world to me.  

Thad and I worked with Cassandra (aka Fred) long ago in a flower shop. Along with our friend Jim, we knew her when she met and fell in love with Frank. We were fortunate enough to be at their wedding, and to remember the births of  Cate and Alex. I know how much Fred loved her family, she told me many times. Our good friend Thad, our brother,  preceeded her in death. And I know he's with her now, taking care of her, talking her ear off. I know she is not alone.

Cassaundra brightened up each and every day that I worked with her at the Department of Public Health. She always helped organize events to help everyone smile and enjoy work just a bit more.

You brightened our lives with your quirky sense of humor and inspired us with your dedication and commitment to excellence as a Program Specialist II. There’s not a day in Compliance that I don’t think of you and wish you were still here.  Thanks for your encouragement and friendship. Thanks for being by my side and cheering me on. I thought we were going to do this together, but I guess I have to do this for both of us. I’ll forever smile at the mention of your name.

My name is Melanie and I worked with Cassaundra at Public Health.  I felt such a kinship with Cassaundra, we just got one another! I could really appreciate her quirky sense of humor, creativity and love of the off-beat, we liked the same kind of movies and music- she was my people. I miss her soo much! She and her family will always be in my thoughts.

Cassaundra you embraced me in friendship over 14 years ago.  Our friendship was very dear to me. I care and love you and your family.  I miss your laugh, friend.

My favorite memory of my sister in law Sandy, aka. Cassaundra Mary Gonzalez is when I posted a funny picture of my husband Benjamin,her older brother and it was of him being silly& having a penguin bob on& Sandy jokingly said He's still using a bib?? & Laughing. We miss you Sandy, prayers for your husband Frank and your 2 precious little children, Cate& Alex. We love you, Your brother Benjamin and sister in law Melissa Andrews. 

I worked with Cassaundra at DPH in 2019-2020 and she was a truly great lead.  She was thoughtful, smart, funny and truly genuine. I’ll never forget her coming to the hospital when I was pregnant with my son or how she sent me a gift while pregnant with my daughter. She was someone I considered a friend. My heart is with her family. May you find comfort in the memories of better days. 

Cassaundra was one of a handful of people who could always make me laugh. No matter what else was going on in my life, she helped me find the funny.
