

Esperanza was born to Josefa Salazar and Alfonso Casillas in Ures Sonora Mexico on March 11, 1939. She is the third out of 11 siblings and attended a colonial style school in her village. She moved to Mexicali, Baja Cali. Mexico when she was a teenager and met her spouse, Aurelio Coronado.
In 1964 after their first child was born, Esperanza and Aurelio immigrated to the United States in search of a better life for the family and settled in the town of Yucaipa. She worked alongside her husband at McAnally Enterprise and finished her working career at Sorensen Engineering.
Esperanza was a caring friend, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active community member, devout Catholic and provided Eucharist and spiritual support for those in need. She is known for her hospitality and ensuring that everyone was always fed with delicious homemade food. She is known for always putting others before herself and had a passion of giving back to those in need.
On July 20, 2020 Esperanza peacefully died surrounded by her family and loved ones. We want to thank everyone who made it possible to carry out her last wish of being at home.
Esperanza is survived by her husband, Aurelio Coronado. Four sons: Hector (Christina Quinto Coronado), Gerald (Lisa Sanchez Coronado), Roberto, and David (Maria Uribe Coronado); 12 grandchildren: Michael (Emily), Joel, Stephanie, Jonathan (Rebeca), Alexandria, Gabriela, Gerald Jr (Nella), Isabella, Mariel, Daniel, Cecilia, and David; and four Great-Grandchildren: Lucy, Matthias, Asher, and Rae.
She was the living embodiment of Matthew 22:37—40: “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
