I still miss you every day sweetie. It has been a year now. Life has been very hard without you. So many things this first year to go through without you. To the family and friends of Grant:  My deepest condolences.  I haven't seen Grant for a number of years, however, we spent many good times together growing up, serving together in Vietnam and riding Harley Davidsons.  I will miss you my brother, but I'm sure we'll meet up again very soon.  Marines die...that's what we're here for, but the Marine Corps lives forever, and that means that you will live forever. You were an uncle to me. My loudmouth, loving, caring, funny uncle. My dad loved you like a brother and every memory he talks about always had you in it. When I was little I always got excited when I heard you and Stacy were coming over. I'm so happy we all reconnected last year and we actually got to talk. Grant, you were like a father to me growing up and some values you instilled in me show to this very day.  You were funny, liked to make and tell jokes, you wore your heart on your sleeve and you were brutally honest,,,Thats how I am to this very day and its because of you. When I came to see you in the hospital the day of Garretts funeral you perked up when you saw me and you seemed to have all your witts about you and I was so happy to see that because I knew you were so sick.  Thats was you though...Your were a fighter, you were strong and you rolled with the punches...yet more attributes that you instilled in me to this very day.  It was an honor to know you... I wish I had the chance or opportunity to get to know you a lot better...but time just ran out. Knowing how much you suffered for such a long a time, I know that you are now finally at peace. I fondly remember our first uplifting conversation when you were riding in your chair on the side of the road and Dan and I stopped for a little chat. Rest in peace.

Im so sorry for your loss Stacy, Sherese, and the rest of the family.  Grant was like a father to me for so many years and some things he taught me and showed me while I was growing up still have a place in the person I am today.  I went to visit Grant when he was in the hospital the day of Garretts funeral and I hadnt seen Grant in over 5 years but the second I walked in the hospital room, Grant perked up and said "HI Pete"...he didnt bat an eye, he recognized me instantly and seemed so happy to see me.  I was floored because i wasnt sure if he'd recognize me...but he was the same Grant I have always known. He was quick witted, funny, and wore his heart on his sleeve...Those are 3 things I got from Grant because Im exactly the same way..Theres no doubt in my mind that I inhereted that from him because all the years we were friends/Family.  He always always always treated me like a son and for that Im eternaly grateful.  RIP GRANT.. Your pain is gone now...  Until we meet again..  You will never be forgotten.  I know you are looking down on us all and wanting us to move forward and not shed a tear...But,   It was an honor to know you..I love you and you will be missed.

Grant was a man from his heart and his mind. His sense of humor and witty conversation always lifted my spirit.

Grant walk with Jesus. No more pain or hospitals. You are now free. For the past 10 years I have watched you in pain. But that did not  stop you. Your will to survive was truly amazing. You are now and always will be my hero. Brave and strong to the very end.  So many loved you. Please take all that love with you. Your wife and best friend . Grant loved life as few others I have ever met. If they have Harley's in Heaven I am sure Grant will somehow get one or two for himself! With the strength of a Marine and the softness of a Husband, Father and Grandfather he will be truly missed by all whose lives he has touched, even as briefly as mine.

It is hard to put into words how much Grant meant to me... He taught me  about the will to live, that there is no giving up, to fight the good fight .  He will always be in my heart and the memories we all shared on my visits will be priceless to me.  The memories are forever and I will cherish them.
