Art was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska. While still a young boy, the family moved to Hygiene, CO. Art grew up and attended school at Montgomery Elementary and Lyons High School.
He enlisted in the US Navy V-5 program in Denver, CO, Sept.7, 1941. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. In the Marine Corps, March 1944. He fought against the Imperial Japanese Army throughout the South Pacific.
Art retired from the US Marine Corps June 30, 1964 in Yuma, Arizona. As a civilian, Art managed and later owned National Car Rental over two decades after which he entered into selling real estate for the remainder of his life.
Art is survived by his wife Irene R. (Hartnagle) Shupe and two sons Steven Shupe (Katharine) of Longmont, CO, and Mark (LuAnn) Shupe of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by his grandson Michael (Shannon) Shupe and two great grandchildren Piper and Jackson, all of Tucson, AZ.
Art was preceded in death by his folks, Frank and Elsie (Barnes) Shupe and his brothers Don and Robert "Bob" Shupe, a niece and numerous nephews.

With gratitude and much appreciation, the family thanks all of Art's friends for their steady support and encouragement.
Services are planned for April 1st, 2017 at 10:30 am at Johnson Mortuary.
