March 7, 2016, surrounded by family. Caroline was 78 years old.
Caroline was born December 14, 1937, the first child, to Frankie Dean Cobb and Emerton Jaudon Cobb in Fort Worth, Texas. Daughter to a missionary pastor with the Southern Baptist Convention, Caroline lived in Texas and Tucson, Arizona and grew up actively involved in church. At the age of 8 years old Caroline began playing the piano, often playing for the church where her father pastored. For the next 70 years Caroline worshipped and served the Lord through music.
At the age of 15, living in Tucson, Arizona, Caroline met Robert Edward Tuggle at church while he was stationed at the nearby Air Force base. In spite of her age – and the fact she was not allowed to date yet – Caroline told her mother she would marry Robert. A few years later, Caroline graduated high school early to go with Robert to Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Arizona where she received her degree in Elementary and Music Education. Two years later, they were married. As Caroline neared graduation, she performed her senior piano recital, eight months pregnant with her first son, Robert.
Shortly after graduating and welcoming their first son, Caroline and Robert moved to Yuma, Arizona where they lived the remainder of their lives and raised their four children.
Eight years after Robert’s passing, Caroline met Alton Goff (Al) at church and the two were married October 11, 2003. Caroline had a second love with Al and enjoyed her time with him. During their retirement they traveled many places visiting family and friends.
Caroline loved the Lord and loved her family. Many will affirm that Caroline’s home was a gallery declaring her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught over 25 years, teaching kindergarten and music in Yuma. She served continually in the church – joyfully playing the piano and organ as her service to the Lord. Always positive, Caroline approached the world through optimism, loved God’s creation and saw beauty all around her.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Alton Goff; her four children, Robert Tuggle, Lynette Ray, Randy Tuggle, and Shauna Catania; her 14 grandchildren; her 15 great grand-children with two more on the way; and her brother Alfred Jaudon Cobb.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 12th from 4-6 PM at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Ave, Yuma, AZ. The memorial service will be held Sunday, March 13th at 3 PM at Morningside Southern Baptist Church in Yuma, Arizona. For additional information call 928-342-3557.
