On January 19th, 2026, Dave Swerdan of Chipman, Alberta passed away at the age of 72 years. He was authentic to his core and unapologetically himself, living life on his own terms with grit, humour, and grace. A farmer through and through, he took over his parent's land and transformed it into more than a working farm, it became a true homestead and a life's masterpiece. Through good years and bad, he loved the land deeply, finding meaning in the soil, the seasons, and the steady rhythm of outdoor life from Alberta to Yuma, Arizona.
He was the kind of man who always showed up, there for anyone who needed help, never asking for anything in return. Warm, funny, and unmistakably present, he had a bold voice and a fearless honesty that made him impossible to ignore.
He met life head-on, never pretending to be anything other than who he was. His hugs were warm, his smile infectious, and his presence unforgettable.
Most of all, he built a beautiful family and a life rooted in love, honesty, and hard work. His legacy lives on in the land he cared for, the people he helped, and the family and friends who will carry his spirit forward.
He will be deeply missed and endlessly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
