Douglas L. Hayes Sr., 65, entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 18, 2014 with his family by his side at Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1948 and raised in Somerton. He worked hard everyday until he no longer could. Douglas was a Landscaper and well known for his Beautiful Native American Artwork.
Douglas is survived by his son, Douglas L. Hayes Jr. of Somerton; stepdaughter, Tannessa Phillip; sisters, Carole (Dale) Phillips of Somerton and Marilyn (Verley Valenzuela Sr.) Hayes of Somerton; 9 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Hayes; sisters, Naomi Barley, Betsy Phillips, and Jeannie White Hayes; brother, George Hayes Jr.
Funeral services will be on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at the Cocopah Big House on the West Reservation 14515 S. Veterans Drive, Somerton. Cremation will be at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014.
