

December 2, 1956 - August 10, 2024 Filemon "Junior" Tellez, Jr., aged 67, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Yuma, AZ surrounded by his family. Born on December 2, 1956 in Las Cruces, NM and spent the majority of his life as a resident of Yuma. Junior was a a proud graduate of Kofa High School where he excelled in wrestling. He dedicated most of his career to the construction industry, where his expertise and versatility in building were well recognized.
Junior was a man of few words but possessed profound wisdom and insight. He was a self-taught philosopher, often expressing his reflections through both spoken and written words. His simple and honest approach to life, combined with his love for dancing, made him a beloved figure within his community. He never failed to light up a room when he was on the dance floor.
He is survived by his wife, Tamra, his children, Toni Peters, Maigon Caviness, Tyler Tellez (Kaitlyn), Lacee Tellez, Tyler Ahl, and Gabriel Tellez. Junior's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Devin, Malia, Payton, Serenity, Alexis, Donovan, Guilianna, and Echo. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Mary R. Tellez, and siblings, Liz Duran (Gilbert), Debbie Gonzales (Julian), Bob Tellez (Leticia), and Annette Orta (Ray), alongside many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Filemon O. Tellez, Sr. earlier this year.
A memorial service to honor Junior's life will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 9 am at Johnson Mortuary, followed by burial. A celebration of his life will continue from noon to 4 pm at the Elks Lodge, 1917 W 32nd Street.
