Francisco Lopez Castaneda

On August 25, 2022 Francisco “Pancho” Lopez Castañeda left this earth to be with the Lord. Francisco was born January 16,1941 in Actopan Hidalgo. Francisco spent his lifetime here in Yuma, Az. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

In his early life, Francisco spent his time doing what he loved most in the world which was boxing. After his boxing career Francisco married his loving devoted wife Sara and they spend 59 years together raising 8 children. After retiring as a foreman, Francisco was able to pass on his passion for boxing by opening his own boxing club, Castañeda Boxing, where he welcomed anyone from the nearby barrio to join with all expenses paid by him and his wife.

Francisco leaves behind his wife Sara Castañeda, his seven children, Frank Castañeda, Leo Castañeda, Tony (Gracie) Castañeda, Elizabeth Castañeda, Charlie (Michelle) Castañeda, Mary Castañeda, Sara (Tim)Keller. Francisco also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Francisco is preceded in death by his mother, father, one brother, four sisters and his lovely daughter, Guadalupe Castañeda.

Francisco will be deeply missed by all of those who love him. His witty sense of humor, which mostly came out at the most inappropriate time, his infectious laugh, his gorgeous smile and the best head of hair you have ever seen will never be forgotten.

A viewing/visitation for Francisco will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, 1415 South First Avenue, Yuma, Arizona 85364. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Johnson Mortuary & Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 South 1st Ave, Yuma, AZ 85364. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 1815 S. 8th Avenue, Yuma, Arizona 85364. An interment will occur Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 South First Avenue, Yuma, Arizona 85364.
