Lupe was born on Thursday, February 24, 1938 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico to Rosario Meza and Felipe Cota. In 1956, she married Raul F. Hernandez and together they raised a loving family of three sons and a daughter. Lupe was a homemaker and cared for her family. She loved spending time in her garden and being an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Lupe took pleasure in her volunteer work at Life Care Center of Yuma, dedicating 25 years to assisting the residents in receiving mass by coordinating with St. Francis of Assisi.
Lupe is preceded in death by her spouse Raul F. Hernandez. She is survived by her sons John Hernandez (Olivia), Henry Hernandez (Patsy), Ruben Hernandez and her daughter Lourie Hernandez. Lupe also leaves several grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Zoey, to cherish her memory.
Serving as pallbearers are John Hernandez, Henry Hernandez, Ruben Hernandez, Nick Hernandez, Matt Catron and Bill Manary.
A recitation of the holy rosary for Lupe will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 8:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 1815 S. 8th Avenue, Yuma, Arizona, followed by a funeral mass. Family and friends are invited to gather at The Hernandez Home, 1910 W. 19th Place, Yuma, Arizona, after the mass on Saturday, October 12, 2024, to celebrate her life.
