

Jerry was born in Seminole, Oklahoma. Jerry graduated from the United States Marine Corp boot camp at the young age of seventeen. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine for twenty years. Jerry served two overseas tours in Vietnam, and Okinawa, Japan and spent the next twenty years in civil service with the US Bureau of Reclamation.
His hobbies were bowling, golf, fishing, coaching sports, and a love of horses. He was a devoted Oklahoma Sooner fan and passionate about his Dallas Cowboys. He was a dedicated father to five children and a devoted husband.
He was married to Thelma Sharp, Yuma, AZ, for over fifty years. Thelma followed Jerry to the gates of Heaven within two weeks of one another. Their love lives on throughout eternity.
Jerry is survived by his children, Jerry II (Xochitl) Sharp, Yuma, AZ, Annette (Kevin) Miller, Burbank, CA, Linda Castañada, Yuma, AZ, Julian Reyes, Chandler, AZ, twenty-two grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren, his sister, Joyce Parker, Albuquerque, NM, brother, Jackie (Alice) Sharp, Wausaukee, WI.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Geneva Sharp, Seminole, OK, his son David Reyes, Yuma, AZ, grandson Nathan Reichman, Yuma, AZ, grandson Shae Reyes, Yuma, AZ, and brother, Jonnie Sharp, Superior, WI.
Our beautiful precious Mother, Thelma A (Madrill) Sharp, we all love so dearly, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
Thelma was born on October 17, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona to Frank B. and Maria Concepcion Madrill. She is reunited in heaven with her husband of 50 years, Jerry A. Sharp Sr.
Thelma was a seamstress for many years, enjoyed reading, bowling and spending time with her family. She especially loved hearing her talented sons play music and sing. Although Thelma was somewhat shy, you always felt welcomed in her home. Thelma is survived by her sister, Grace Gonzalez (Mesa, Arizona), her brother, Daniel (Patty) Madrill (Yuma), two daughters, Annette (Kevin) Miller (Burbank, Ca), Linda Castañada (Yuma) two sons, Julian A Reyes (Chandler), Jerry A. (Xochitl)Sharp II, twenty-two grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma is preceded in death by both her parents, Frank and Maria Concepcion (Figueroa) Madrill, one brother, Steven Madrill; three sisters, Elda Badilla, Sylvia Ramos, Ida Flores; one son, David O. Reyes, Jr; and two great-grandsons, Nathan Reichman and Shea Reyes.
A celebration of life for Jerry and Thelma will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, 1415 S. First Avenue, Yuma, Arizona 85364. Following the celebration of life will be an inurnment w/ honors at 12:00 AM at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
