Joe M. Mendoza of Yuma, AZ passed away on April 27, 2017 in Yuma. Born in Florence, AZ on May 7, 1922, he was a retired Civil Service employee at MCAS Yuma. Joe joined the Army in December of 1942, and served in the 5th Armor Division as a Rifleman. He was awarded a Purple Heart in September 1944, and discharged in October 1945.
Joe is survived by his son Joe (Irma), granddaughter Tammy, grandson Mark, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, his sisters Hortense Rose, Mary Lou English and brother Roy Mendoza.
He is preceded in death by wife Pauline, father Manuel, mother Theresa, sister, Aurelia Youtsey, brothers Ray, Elias, Clarence, Henry and Raul.
Services will be on Friday, May 5th 2017 with a visitation from 8:00– 10:30am, and Rosary at 9:00am, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Mass will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 11:00am with burial to follow in the Garden of St. Joseph at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
