Joe was born July 3rd, 1937 in Miami, AZ.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who was involved in his children and grandchildren’s lives and supported them in every sport, 4-h show, activity or endeavor that they wanted to do.
Joe met Linda in Tucson, AZ and knowing a good thing when he saw it, he married her 5 months later. They built their ranch home in Sahuarita, AZ and had 2 children, Jennifer and Aaron. He was then transferred to Yuma, AZ with the railroad in 1978.
He was a freight railroad conductor for 44 years in which he retired from Union Pacific in 2000.
In his younger days he loved racing soap box derbies, car and motorcycles track racing in which he either won or wrecked. There was no in between. He was an excellent craftsman who built his homes from the ground up. A jack of all trades for sure! He was an amazing cook who made all his meals from scratch.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; brother, Bill Herbert; daughters, Kendall Summerhawk, Jennifer Weathersby, Aaron Sparlin, (#5) Melinda Black; son, David Herbert; grandchildren, Rachel Sandoval, Kristen Holmes, Johnathon Weathersby, Amanda Ganser, Tyler Ganser, Ryan Sparlin, and Sasha Herbert; great-grandson, Samuel McIver; nephew, Dan Herbert. Joe is preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Herbert; mother, Allene Herbert; grandson, Joseph Ryan.
We have comfort knowing that you are now pain free and can breathe with ease. We love you!
