Julio Cesar Castro Jr.

Julio Castro Jr. passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, in Yuma, Arizona, at the age of 67. Born on May 25, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, Julio was the beloved son of Leila Acevedo and Julio Castro.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Priscilla Gill Castro; his mother, Leila Acevedo; his daughter, Clarisa Rosenblum and her husband, Zackary Rosenblum; and his sons, Julio Castro III and Emilio Castro. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends whose lives he touched with his kindness, loyalty, and generosity.

Julio proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years. Following his military service, he continued his dedication to aviation as a Lead Aircraft Mechanic at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, where he worked for 28 years. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and became a pillar of the aviation community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Julio Castro; his sister, Maria del Carmen Castro; and his brother, Alfredo Castro.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Johnson Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Yuma.

Pallbearers will be Julio Castro III, Emilio Castro, Zackary Rosenblum, Brian Gray, Ernie Reyes, and Scott Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Garza, Gilbert “Gibby” Gill, and Andy Gill.

Julio was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. He also found happiness in visiting the casino, practicing martial arts, and creating lasting memories with those he loved. His quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and caring heart will never be forgotten.

Julio’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.
