He was raised in Glendale, Stamford Texas and Blythe California. He attended Palo Verde High School in Blythe prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. After basic training, he attended artillery training at Fort Sill Oklahoma, then onto Korea.
Upon returning home from his military service, he and his brothers worked with their father in the trucking and custom agriculture work around the Blythe area. He later began a career with the Bureau of Reclamation.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Ellen Langley of Tucson, Arizona, on January 28th, 1956. The couple settled in Blythe with brief moves to central California. Kerby and Barbara relocated to Yuma in 1969 where they raised their six children. He retired from the Bureau of Reclamation in 1987 where he and Barbara enjoyed their retirement.
He was proceeded in death by Barbara in March of this year, having been married for over 64 years. He is survived by his children, Cindy Barksdale (Greg), Bob (Tracy), Bill (Sherry), Mike (Katie), Jerry (Shawn) and Becky Olaiz (Miguel) and one brother, Doug Wofford. Kerby and Barbara were blessed with 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 22nd at 9:00 A.M.
