The daughter of Orval F. McVey and Lawanda Roach McVey, Marilyn was born July 7th, 1948. She was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.
Marilyn graduated from Yuma High School and earned a bachelors degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. She was an elementary school teacher for many years in both Crane and YSD #1. She then turned her attentions to running the family businesses, Yuma School of Beauty and Plaza Paint Store, with her husband William W. Davis; even though she left teaching she was an advocate for education, and always spoke out about the importance of quality public education. Marilyn also had a passion for historic architectural restoration. She and Bill spent many happy hours covered in dust restoring their Victorian home in Joplin, Missouri and their properties in downtown Yuma.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters Meredith N. Young and Rebecca E. McIntier, son-in-law Jonny R. McIntier, grandchildren Molly and Magnolia; son Christopher B. Young, daughter-in-law Stephanie L. Young; brothers John McVey and Jeff McVey.
There will be a private celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to KAWC Radio PO Box 929, Yuma AZ 85366; donate.nprstations.org/kawc/
A cremation for Marilyn will be done at Desert Lawn Memorial Park Crematory.
