Bess was born on August 1, 1925, in Ft. Worth, TX to Henry and Myrtle Brown, The Browns moved to Yuma in 1939 where Bess entered Yuma Union High School and met her future husband George Gilley. They were married in 1942, shortly before George was drafted and served in the US Army until 1945.
Bess was very competitive and always enjoyed playing board games with her family. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her many lady friends. Bess discovered golf at a rather advanced age but became very active in women's golf and was the ladies club champion at Yuma Golf and County Club in 1975. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and relatives while exploring the United States with her husband George in their motor home.
Mrs. Gilley was preceded in death by her husband George. She is survived by her brother Dan brown, her two sons, Ron and Jim Gilley, grandson Blake Gilley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 1 PM.
