Mary is the daughter of Bill and Margie Johnson, born in Bakersfield, California but moved to Yuma, Arizona at a young age and spent the majority of her life in Yuma where she had three boys Tony, Tim and Robert Warnock.
Mary faced a difficult decision to continue seeking a higher education by leaving her hometown to the Phoenix Valley in 1995. Despite the hardships she faced, she desired a career to support her children. She succeeded in this by furthering her education, completing two Masters Degrees, one from the University of Arizona in Studio Arts and one from the University of Phoenix in Education. She was a teacher for over 20 years; 18 years spent with the Somerton School District teaching 4th and 5th grade.
Mary had an uncanny ability to find happiness and beauty even though she faced many adversities and the tragedy of losing one of her sons. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She was a local artist; a member of the Yuma Art’s Center and taught many classes through the City of Yuma for years. From ceramics, pottery, painting, drawing, and sewing, she was talented at all of it, not just mediocre, but skilled and respected.
Mary is survived by the love of her life; husband Pedro Moreno, mother Margie Cole, sons Tim (Rosie) Warnock, Robert (Angela) Warnock, step-children; Pedro Moreno and Brenda, Teresa, and Alandra Moreno. Many grandchildren whom she adored, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary loved her family and always showed up to every event. She helped and nurtured anyone in need. This is a tremendous loss for our family.
Mary is preceded in death by her father Bill Johnson and her son Tony Warnock.
