Newell David Welch, age 80, of Yuma, Arizona went to be with his Savior on Friday, March 5, 2021. Newell was born August 4, 1940 in Yuma, Arizona. Newell went by the name of David, and to some friends and associates he was fondly known as "Stubs".
David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dora (Collins) Welch; son, David Welch (Jenni) of Yuma; daughter, Kimberly Welch (James) of Yuma; Jeffrey Welch (Edith) of San Tan Valley; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Reta Smith, of Yuma; as well as many nieces and nephews. David was proceeded in death by his parents, Elzie and Beulah Welch, and daughter, Jennifer Gibson.
David retired from the Southern Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor with 42 years of service. He was a member of Mountain View Bible Church for 51 years. David was an avid Yankees fan. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and growing roses.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Welch, Christopher Connor, Kendall Welch, Daniel Gibson, Kenneth Welch, David Escamilla, Sean Quintanilla, Steven De Los Reyes, Jeremy Blanner, Manuel Seda, Johnathan Welch, and Michael Welch.
Honorary Pallbearers include Tracy Collins, Nicolas Welch, Collin Welch, Wesley Connor, Doug Crain, Neil Marcellus, Matt Marshall, Bob Lann, Steve Whitson, Jimmy Marler, and Kerry Adams.
