Norma A. Villarreal
October 4, 1941 – September 27, 2020
Norma Ann Villarreal lost her battle with stage 4 cancer and died peacefully in her home on September 27th, 2020. Norma was born in Wakaw, Sask., Canada on October 4th, 1941 and was raised on a little farm near Tarnapol, Sask. Norma is predeceased by her husband Alejandro Villlarreal and her son Alex Andre Villarreal.
Norma acquired a Cosmetology license in Saskatoon, Sask. in 1960. She worked as a hairdresser in Saskatoon and ended up in Seattle where her sister Jackie lived and got a job with Nordstrom, then ended up in New York and ultimately found herself living in Los Angeles selling real estate. This is where she met her husband Alejandro Villarreal and they had a son, Alex Andre Villarreal. They moved to Yuma, Arizona and opened a dog grooming business named 'The Dog Spa' which was still operating up until her passing.
Norma lived a wild and adventurous life punctured with grace. Norma was a dynamic character known for her humor, her spontaneity, fiery tongue and generous heart. Norma's courage to overcome addiction, the death of her only child and her husband was admirable. Norma was extremely proud of her 20 years of sobriety and was dedicated to Alcoholics Anonymous program. Norma's participation in AA resulted in her being instrumental in helping many addicts beat their addictions and live a serene life.
Norma was a dynamic presence to her siblings, relatives and friends. You could hear her voice over many midways and recognize her stature when she was barely in sight. Norma had the ability to penetrate one's heart and become a friend quickly. She will be easy to remember because she became part of most of the people she met and her presence will echo in our souls for a long, long time.
Norma will be cremated and her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.

Norma A. Villarreal

I met Norma thru the dog spa, also her son Alex, was friends with my daughter.
I have to say Norma was one over the strongest women I have ever met. Losing Alex like she did, then her husband. I lost touch after that, but seeing her obituary makes me sad, but then again, maybe it isn't so sad. Now she is reunited with her family. With her son. You will be missed Norma, more than you know. Rest in peace.
