

Ray Montalvo Martinez, also known as Guero, age 68, born February 11, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas, passed peacefully on Sunday morning, October 18, 2015 in Yuma. He spent his entire childhood and most of his adult life in Yuma. After living in California for 20 years, due to his long-term illness he moved back to Yuma, to what he considered home.
He was a Vietnam Veteran and serviced his country for two years in the Army. He was a very proud Yuma High Criminal and wore both the mascot and his Army baseball caps proudly. He loved baseball, music and movies all, which brought him much joy.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Ray C. Martinez and Mary Montalvo Martinez, who he deeply missed and loved.
He was a very happy and loving person who will be greatly missed by his four children, Elizabeth Gonzalez (Jesse) of Yuma and their children Valerie Michele, Jose Luis and Jessy Eliana. Joey Ray Martinez (Irma) who reside in San Diego, CA, Michele Pena and Chantal Pena his granddaughter of Yuma. His youngest daughter Corine Martinez and her children who he very loving called "mis gueritos", Jack Robert, Raya Maria, Link Stone and Logan Toner, of Somerton. And, his beautiful new great-grand-children Aaliyah Michele Rivera and Josiah Khiry Henderson. He is also survived by his sister Victoria Hernandez of Mesa, Arizona, Jose Martinez, of Victorville, CA, Roy Martinez of Yuma and Sammy Martinez of Denver, CO. Plus many, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joey Ray Martinez, Jose Luis Gonzalez, Austin Gurule, Gib Rollier, Romney D'Antuno, and Roy Martinez, Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a memorial service will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson's Mortuary.
Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation for the loving care that was given to him in his final months by April, Martin, Michelle and their wonderful staff at Affectionate Care Assisted Living. They are a wonderful group of people.
Although he was only under Hospice of Yuma care for less than 48 hours, we sincerely are thankful for the quick response and help that was provided to our family during his last hours.
Only God can repay all of you the love and care you provided him.
