

Raymond P. Chretin, Jr. died peacefully and joined the Lord on July 6, 2026. Raymond was a native of Yuma, Arizona born on March 9, 1944, and was 82 years old. Raymond was happily married and survived by Alicia Chretin for 62 years. Raymond leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. Raymond Chretin, III and Mrs. Shelley Chretin of Lake Forest, California, Mr. Michael Chretin and Mrs. Ana Chretin of Tucson, Arizona, and Mr. Mark Chretin and Mrs. Tami Chretin of Reno, Nevada. Raymond leaves eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters Mrs. Linda Rodriquez, Mrs. Helen Angulo, and brother Mr. James Chretin, all of Yuma, Arizona, and Mrs. Rose Marie Chretin of Phoenix, Arizona. Raymond also leaves numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Raymond attended Yuma schools, graduating from Immaculate Conception parochial school in 1958 and Yuma High school in 1962. In high school, Raymond was a member of the football and basketball teams and was elected as Secretary Treasurer of the Lettermen's Club.
Raymond furthered his education attending the University of Arizona College of Business and Public Administration and earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; he was later awarded a diploma as a graduate of the University of Arizona Eller College of Management.
In 1968 Raymond joined the JCPenney Company and entered the company's management training program. He quickly rose through the ranks of store management, managing six stores for the company, and held management positions on the Los Angeles District Staff and the Western Regional Staff as new stores and remodel stores manager. Raymond retired to Tucson, Arizona in 2004 after a 36 year career with the company.
Raymond was a member of the University of Arizona Alumni Association and the University of Arizona Hispanic Alumni Association; he was also president of the East End Merchants Association in Elko, Nevada and president of the Orangefair Merchants Association in Fullerton, California.
A partner in community affairs, Raymond was a member of the Mariachi Conference Advisory Committee in Tucson Arizona; an active member on the United Way Board of Directors, the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the St. Joseph's Parish Finance Committee in Elko, Nevada.; he joined Rotary International and was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish Finance Committee in Harlingen, Texas.
Raymond leaves a rich legacy of family, friends and fond memories.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, patience and dedication to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial Services will be held at Johnson's Mortuary, 1415 S. First Avenue, Yuma, Arizona on Thursday July 23,2026 at 5pm followed by a rosary at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday July 24, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church ,505 S. Avenue B, Yuma, Arizona at 10am with interment to follow at Johnson's Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 S. First Avenue, Yuma, Arizona.
