

Reymundo "Moon" Lopez, Jr, age 56, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017, in Phoenix, AZ. He was born in Yuma, AZ in 1960 to Mercedes Zavala. He was a 1977 graduate of Yuma High School & a diehard Criminal where he would help ring the victory bell on Friday nights during football games.
After graduating from Arizona State in 1984, Moon dedicated 27 years working for the State of Arizona in Yuma, Tucson & Phoenix. He later went on to earn another degree in Computer Information Systems where he worked on creating computer programs.
Moon's greatest passions were rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona State Sun Devils. He also loved perfecting his famous Jerky recipe that his family and friends loved eating. He was a big jokester with a huge heart! His greatest victory was his faith in the Lord and showed it by giving back to his church and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul.
He is preceded in death by his Grandmother – Victoria Hurtado Rocha, Mother - Mercedes Zavala and survived by his siblings, Richard (Socorro) Zavala, Ralph (Etta) Zavala, Mary Jessie Zavala, Rose (Bill) Jones, Josephine (David) Jones & 13 nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed! Much thanks to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix for the wonderful care of our loved one. Family, friends, and others whose lives Reymundo touched are invited to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course share some of Moon's jokes at Johnson's Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Ave., Yuma, AZ on Monday, April 10th from 5-9pm for viewing and rosary. Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 11th at 1:30pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Ave. B with burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
