Robert was born on October 26, 1942, to Nicholas and Mary (Estrada) Sierra in Yuma, Arizona. At the young age of 17, he proudly joined the U.S. Army. After 3 years and a tour to Germany, he honorably completed his years of service to our country. When Robert returned to the states, he went on to master his skill in the trade of masonry, where he spent many years leaving his mark in the cities of Yuma, AZ and San Jose, CA.
Throughout Robert’s lifetime, he developed a love for many things such as roller derby, fishing, pocket knives, old western movies, spending time at the casino, and oldies but goodies. In the 1970s, he joined Maya Production where he worked with musicians such as Archie Bell and The Drells, Rosie and The Originals, Santana, The Pointer Sisters, WAR, Bloodstone, Malo, Cornelio Reyna, Los Tigres Del Norte and many more.
In 1956, Robert met Irene Martinez in Yuma, AZ. Robert and Irene were happily married in 1965 and went on to have 4 children: Bobby, Nick, Renee and Lavon. His most proudest accomplishment in life was his family, and in his last weeks he said, “I’m proud babe… you gave me all these beautiful kids. What more could I ask for? I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me all my kids and all my grandkids.”
