

Rose Marie Wilson (Pawtish) passed February 25, 2017. She was the eldest tribal member of the Cocopah Tribe. Rose was born April 13, 1912. She lived most of her life on the North Cocopah Indian Reservation and a short time north of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley. Rose began working in the fields picking cotton and later as a homemaker. Rose carried a deep knowledge of the tribal history and culture, in addition to being fluent in other tribal languages along the Colorado River and San Diego area tribes.
She is preceded in death by her brothers & sisters that produced the Comet, Miller, Nelson, Gutierrez, and Wilson families of the Cocopah and Quechan tribes of the Yuma area. She is survived by her grandchildren Karris Wilson, Gregg Wilson, Jeanette Crowhurst, Willa Scott; great grandchildren Priscilla Wilson, Koda Wilson, Kaya Wilson and children of grandchildren, Jayla Wilson Palone, Cheyanne Crowhurst.
Tribal Ceremony will be held 5:00 pm Friday March 10th at West Cocopah Reservation 14515 Veterans Drive Somerton, AZ 85350. Cremation Ceremony will commence Saturday morning March 11th at 5:00 am.
