On March 10, 2018, surrounded by his family, Rudy left us to join our Lord and his beloved wife Cora. Rudy was born on August 8, 1927 in Los Angeles, California, the fifth child born to Florentino and Rosa Miranda.
As part of the greatest generation during World War II, with his parents' permission at the age of 17, Rudy enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Machinists Mate for four years during the Pacific Theater. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Rudy returned to the Los Angeles area where he met the love of his life, Socorro "Cora" Miranda. Together they raised five children: Sister M. Michelle D.C.J., Monica Miranda, Rudy Miranda, Mark Miranda, and Jennifer Pacheco.
Rudy worked in the aircraft industry for several years as a machinist before obtaining a position with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as a Maintenance Technician, retiring in 1992. Rudy and Cora enjoyed their retirement years immensely by travelling to different countries, spending time at their cabin in Big Bear, entertaining family and friends, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Rudy is survived by his sons Rudy and Mark, ex-daughters-in-law, Valerie and Shirley, grandchildren Danielle, KayLa, Jackie, Robbie, Isaac, Isabella and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Florentino and Rosa, his beloved wife Cora, daughters, Sister M. Michelle D.C.J., Monica, and Jennifer.
The family would like to personally thank the personnel at Hospice of Yuma, Jackie Miranda, Judy Brown, Nelly Martinez and the medical staff at the Yuma Regional Medical Center.
A Rosary and memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 5:30 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Funeral Home on 795 West 28th St. A full military burial will be held at the National Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, California on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
