Sharon Givens, a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother, died July 13, 2013 at her home in Yuma, AZ.
Sharon battled brain cancer since December 2012. She was married to Tommy Joe Givens, who died in March of 2012. She is survived by her three children: sons, Tommy (wife Kim) and Joel (wife Kim) Givens of Southern CA; her daughter, Beth (husband Keith) Kershaw of Yuma, AZ and nine grandchildren. Mother, Edith and stepfather Floyd. Extended family: brother-in laws David (wife Nancy) Givens and Al (wife Flossie) Givens.
Sharon graduated in 1968 from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where she met and married Tom then soon moved to Southern California. With roots in Yuma through her husband Tom, they moved here in 2006. A gifted musician and devoted pastors' wife, she enjoyed all aspects of Tom's interim pastor positions at both Oasis Church and Morningside Baptist Church in Yuma and was known as a woman of prayer. Sharon dedicated most of her time and lived especially for her nine grandchildren here in Yuma and in Southern California.
A memorial service for Sharon will be held at Oasis Church on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 6PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Oasis Church where a fund for children's ministries has been established.
