Shirley worked as a nurse's aide at Desert Manor; selling athletic shoes and Birkenstocks for Hugh Hegarty and Bill & Theresa Murray; at the post office substation; and at the laundry mat, but her favorite job was being a mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Francis Parish from the time she moved to Yuma in 1960 until her death.
Shirley is survived by her children, Bill (Teresa) Fox, Pat (Sugie) Fox, Carol (Russell) Phelps, Tim (Toni) Fox, Dan (Linda) Fox, Colleen Fox and Michael (Carey) Fox. Grandchildren Erica Fox, Sarah (Mike) Sandoval, Scott (Michelle) Fox, Jeff Phelps, Chris (Wendy) Phelps, Jennifer (Sean) Simmons, Lyndsey (Zach) Anderson, David Fox, Kaelin Fox, Matthew (Ashley) Fox, Michelle Fox, Trey Fox, Luke Fox and Lily Fox. Great-grandchildren, Haley Fox, Blake Sandoval, Faith Sandoval, Mickey Fox, Makenzie Fox, Braxten Phelps, Holden Simmons, Sawyer Simmons, Chelsea Fox, Saylee Fox, Bryson Fox.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Fox, children, Mary Kathryn Fox and Matthew Fox, grandchildren, Easton Fox, Peyton Fox and Riley Phelps.
A visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, December 13th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. Emilio Chapa.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Yuma and the nurses at YRMC for their care during her final days.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Bill, Pat, Tim, Dan, Mike and her grandson, Matt. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
