Heaven gained an angel on on Friday March 8, 2019 when Suzanna "Suzy" Abril, age 62, of Yuma passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends . She was born on a Tuesday in the summer of 1956 to the late Frank and Frances DeLosReyes . She was the oldest of six children.
Suzy graduated from Kofa High School and went on to work for the City of Yuma for 31 years. She was such a hard-working, independent woman that after retirement she went on to work part-time for the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area.
As a single mother for many years, Suzy raised two amazing daughters. Then, in 1991, she married the love of her life and gained three beautiful step-daughters. One year later, God blessed the couple with a baby boy and their blended family was complete.
Suzy was a fierce mama bear for those that she loved, most of all, her children. She was an amazing Nana to all of her Grandkids, was the life of the party, and enjoyed bowling and dancing the night away. She was known for her award winning salsa, no-nonsense was of speaking her mind, and deep love for her family and friends.
Suzy is survived by her husband Arthur Abril; children, Janae(Edgar) Espinoza, Stephanie Laborin, Jeremy Abril, Adrianna(Scot) Lewis, Andrea(Eric) Albalos and Ariane Abril; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as sisters Esther(Petie) Quintero, Anna(Ruben) Hernandez, Frank(Kathy) Delosreyes, David(Traci) Delosreyes, Alicia(Ruben) Lugo and meny other family members and friends.
A celebration of Suzanna's life was held on Monday March 18th, and she was laid to rest in the Garden of Mediation at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 South 1st Avenue, Yuma, Arizona.
