It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Victor Urias. He passed peacefully in his sleep early in the morning on December 23, 2024. Born in Yuma, Arizona on August 2, 1956, Victor reached the age of 68, while battling pancreatic cancer for the last two years.
Victor was nonverbal but he could generally get across what he wanted or needed. He had a beautiful laugh and an infectious smile, but Vic could definitely let you know when something displeased him. However, it is his smile and laugh we will remember.
Our brother Vic was cared for by the State Operated Group Home since 1978, and most recently by the Amara-YAH Group Home, both here in Yuma, Arizona. Victor received wonderful care over the years and the Urias family is forever grateful.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Christina Urias, and his sister Elvira Ward.
Vic is survived by his sisters and brothers, Lupe Dominguez (Manuel), Connie Decorse, Christina Mahoney, Ray Urias (Judy), Lucy Beecher, Rebecca Steiner (Richard), Gilbert Urias (Brigitta), Daniel Urias (Mona) and Rosie Crowell (Steve), and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Ray Urias, Gilbert Urias, Daniel Urias, Connie Decorse, Rebecca Steiner, Rosie Crowell.
Honorary Pallbearers are Lupe Dominguez, Christina Mahoney, Lucy Beecher, and his good friend Sean Lakey.
Services will be held on January 25, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, 417 S 15th Avenue, Yuma, Arizona 86364 with a viewing at 9:30am, a Rosary to follow and Catholic Requiem Mass at 10:30am. A private burial will be set for a future date.
Our brother Victor touched the lives of many, and his memory will be cherished by family and all those who cared for him throughout the years.
