Vurg Eddings was a kind man who lived with joy, honor, and integrity. I had the good fortune to work with Crane School District in the early 80s and he was always a fine example of what a person should be. I am saddened to think that Vurg is gone; the world will be a lesser place without him. I send my condolences to his family at your loss; our prayers are with you. When I think of Vurg, I can envision him singing with the choirs of heaven, his voice and smile shining through bright and clear.

Elder Vurg Edding,was my pastor,for many years,he will be greatly miss,he helped, me threw the murder of my family in,1989 he went with me to the,jail to comfront the man that killed my,daughter,and grandchildrens,i will allways be thankful for that support. and also the faith he had,all the way threw his sickness, he was attending until he was unable. his words to the church,was that the lord could heal,him if,he want to, but if he, do not he,will love him any way.I would say he love the God.

Vurg was a good friend and co-worker.I was pleased to nominate him for the Education Hall of Fame. He did so many good things for people that were outside the area of his responsibility. He had a pleasant smile,a cooperative attitude,and a great sense of humor. 
Vurg was certainly a part of the Crane School family and I do not know anyone who didn't like him and appreciate his contributions to Crane.

Mr. Eddings, thinking of him brings a smile to my face!  Yes, he was the go to man of Crane for so many years.  He was every where!  Helping to clean up in a bathroom, helping a teacher get something done in her room to helping guide the bus drivers as they backed their bus into the very nice, tight line at the bus barn.  I remember a wonderfully kind, smiling man!  I was always happy to see him around town and say hello.

IF I CLOSE MY EYES I CAN STILL HEAR VURG SING "HOW GREAT THOU ART", AS HE OFTEN DID AT OUR 1ST DAY TEACHER BREAKFAST AT CRANE SCHOOL.  NO ONE COULD SING THAT SONG BETTER AND WHAT A WAY TO START THE SCHOOL YEAR! HE WAS AN INSTITUTION AT CRANE SCHOOL!  I NEVER SAW HIM WITHOUT THAT SMILE!  HE TRULY LIVED HIS LIFE AS GOD INTENDED US TO LIVE IT.  OUR CONDOLENCES TO VURG'S WIFE AND HIS FAMILY.  MY WIFE AND I WERE BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN HIM!!

First and foremost, the writer extend his greatest sorrow for the bereaved family of Revered Vurg Eddings their lost can only be imagine too others. The first time the writer met  Vurg Eddings he had a smile on his face, which was in 1950. In 1999, that was the last time, the writer saw Revered Eddings and he was still carrying that smile. Too the writer that proves he knew how to relieve stress and that he carried no animosity toward his adversaries yes everyone has adversaries. Pain is not and adversary it is the proof that you have one, the last time the writer talked to Revered Eddings the writer was giving honor to Revered Eddings father for his many accomplishments in life. Revered Eddings smile and said yes' daddy was good with his hands. The writer reminded Revered Eddings that the mind is what educates the hands. Revered Eddings was an inspiration too the writer. The writer used Revered Eddings as a gage and reference to his next seasons. It was inspiring too the writer to pick up a Little Rock Arkansas Newspaper and too see the comment that Revered Eddings made about Dr. Martin Luther King's Holiday in Arizona and that comment was on the front page.
  The writer is very happy for Revered Eddings to have carried on his family tradition and trust Revered Eddings have set a pattern for his procreation. Besides,not everyday one can boast about building houses, apartments and a church that's quite an accomplishment.
In addition, too carry on a tradition it is an honor because Revered Eddings was a doer not a talker. He did not go alone to get alone there wasn't a finer parable when Jesus said a tree is known by the fruit it bears.
Yes, Revered had the fruit for proof

My dad worked at Crane and as a child was at our house. He was one of the kindest men we knew. When he drove the bus he would drop us off at our house instead on making the 4 McEntyre kids walk the mile. In adulthood he was always a ready smile. We were blessed to have known him. I started driving a bus at Crane School 
in  November 1959.  In the 14 years I worked there I never heard Vurg say an unkind word about anyone or anything.  In the mornings before the busses left the bus barn we would sit and talk....about life, about the world and those talks have stayed in my memory all these years.  Never an unkind word and always a smile.  Eunice, you and your family and friends have given to God one of the finest men who ever walked this earth and I and everyone who knew Vurg mourn with you. My life was just so simply touched by this man's smile to this unhappy child EVERYDAY beaming the love of Christ through his countenance, no matter the circumstances I was encountering!...Back when the school custodian could hug a child, or give her a pat on the back with love.

Mr. Eddings was a gentle giant.  I have the fondest childhood memories at Crane school of his singing and kindness.  I always felt safe when I knew he was around.   Yuma has lost a great person, but heaven has received an angel.  I pray for comfort to the eddings family.

I was privileged to work with Vurg when I came to Crane to teach in 1968.  He was a most patient and kind person; he truly lived what he believed.  He was an excellent role model for all of us - adults and children alike.  We are all better people for having known him.

Vurg is truly one of the kindest, gentlest souls I have ever known.  One of my fondest memories is of the Crane Schools District Office Christmas parties with Guy Harp playing the piano and Vurg and Betty Borland singing a duet or two and then leading the carols.  Vurg - you will be oh so missed here on earth - but the Heavens are a singin':)

My fondest memories of Vurg was when he would sing "Amazing Grace" at Crane Christmas parties. He was truly a wonderful man.

What more can I say than the wonderful tributes already listed!  When I taught at Crane and our children attended, we were so impressed with this gentle man of faith, the veritable definition of a gentleman.  
The whole community and as evidenced by some of the messages, folks all across our country will miss him, but cherish the many memories.  Our prayers and concerned love go out to Eunice and all the Rose of Sharon family.

I am one of the children that Vurg touched with his generous love growing up at Crane school.  My mother worked with Vurg for many, many years at Rancho Viego school and loved him too.  I have many fond memories of him always being there when we needed him.  His warm smile could brighten any day.  God has a true angel with him now, and I know that Vurg will continue to be watching over his flock from glorious heaven.  Peace be with his family and friends.  God bless you all.

I also knew Vurg from Crane School (class of '68). What an inspiration he was! Looking back on that time it almost seems surreal: administration and staff knowing EVERY student and taking the time to talk to us. I remember Vurg as always having a smile for everyone. My deepest sympathy to his family.

pastor was that one in tenthousand when I met him in 1995 I WAS LOST Ihad nohope  hepraid with me and my mother he was like a father to me he preached to and taught me to pray I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM praying with me at noonday prayer I WILL DO MY BEST TO SEE HIM IN HEAVEN WE MUST PICK UP THE CROSS THAT HE LADE DOWN PLEAD THE BLOOD OF JESUS AND CARRIE ON AND JOY IN HIM GOING TO JESUS.

I was a student at Crane School in the 50's and I will never forget Vurg's kindness to me. He always greeted me when I got off the bus in the morning and always had a kind word. He has always been in my heart all my life.
Those are the people you never forget.

I first met Vurg when I began working for Crane School District in 1972. At that time he did it all for Crane- grounds, maintenance, etc, and he did everything with a smile and kind word for all he came into contact with. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. For several years he gave the benediction at our promotion ceremonies. These were always sincere and from the heart. I never heard a harsh word from him, he lived by his faith and beliefs. Vurg was admired and respected for his integrity and devotion. Crane School District and Yuma are better places for having had Vurg with us all these years.

We are sorry to hear of Vurg's passing.  He was a gentleman and always helpful in any way.  I taught at Crane School when Vurg was Master at everything.  We pray for peace to the family.  People like Vurg are never replaced.

I feel like I've known Vurg for most of my life.  I met hime when I started attending Crane School in 1960.  Then in 1977 I married Mike Hooper.  Mike's dad Lloyd worked with Vurg as a custodian at Crane for quite a few years.  They became good friends.  When Lloyd passed away, our family couldn't think of anyone other than Vurg to talk about his friend Lloyd at the celebration of his life!  He did a great job!  Our family has always said that Vurg was always one of the  all around best people we have ever known!  We will always him and his wonderful smile!

I was so very sorry to hear of Vurg's passing!  I feel like I have known him for most of my life.  I met him when I started attending Crane School in 1960! Then I married Mike Hooper in 1977. I've known Vurg since I went to work for Crane 32 years ago. He kept Crane running for many years before I got there. He was a good friend who would always stop by our office just to say hi.  When he retired, he would still come by once in awhile to visit and catch up on friends and family. We hadn't seen him in awhile but I've often thought about my good friend over the years.  We will miss you Vurg.
