Warner joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, 12 June 2011. He was born in Bard, CA, on 22 July 1932, where he grew up to be a proud farmer. He later worked for Imperial County for several years and Yuma County Health for greater than 25 years. His magnificent paintings and whimsical drawings can be found in businesses and homes throughout Imperial and Yuma counties.
Warner was preceded in death by his father, Armel Akins and his twin brother, Warren Akins.
Warner is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Ivan Akins of Bard, CA; sons, Joseph Akins, Robert Akins (Barbara), William Akins, all of Yuma; daughter, Glenda Williams of Cottonwood, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Ronnie Akins of Red Bluff, CA, Tommy, Bobby; sister, Linda and mother, Mammie. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and scores of friends with whom he shared his heart.
A family memorial ceremony will be celebrated at a later date.
