Wilber "Sparky" L. Matthews, 85, entered into eternal peace on April 17, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Wilber was born December 31, 1927, in Liberty, Nebraska. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Verda Willey. He served in the United States Navy. Wilber then went on to enjoy a successful career in the automotive industry. He moved his growing family to Yuma in 1967. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Diamondbacks, and fishing. Together Wilber and Verda raised five wonderful children Charlotte Ahles (Monty), Wayne Matthews (Martha Ann), Amy Grable (Johnny), Pamela Hardison (Mark) and Betsy Ramirez (Jose). He left behind a loving legacy for his 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on April 22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Mortuary.
