Alex was born on October 18, 1950 in Havana, Cuba to parents, Alarico Fernandez and Carmen Medina. He graduated from The University of Florida in 1974 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
He enjoyed reading, all things sports related and spending time with his family. Alex loved all animals, especially his kitties. His family and friends will always remember him as a strong, selfless man with a heart of gold. Alex was a jokester, who could find the humor in anything. He would make everyone around laugh with his quirky sense of humor. He was a true patriot and never gave up on his hope for this country.
Alex is survived by his wife, Isabel Fernandez and his four daughters, Aleini Lacombe and her husband, David and 2 daughters, Alexis and Camille; Janelle Ray and her husband, William and 2 daughters, Isabella and Savannah; Alexandra Montalvo and her husband, Anthony and 2 sons, Max and Milo; Daneli Burran and her husband, Travis and son Nixon; his sister Marilyn Kennedy and her husband John. His brother Alarico Fernandez and youngest sister Xochitl Fernandez.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother Alarico and Emilia Fernandez; his father, Alarico Fernandez and his mother Carmen Medina; his brothers George Fernandez and Robert Fernandez.
A funeral is scheduled for Alex on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 with a reception to follow at his daughter’s home. Pastor Bryce of Woodlands Church will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alex’s life. We would like to thank our friends and family for all the meals, flowers, comforting words and prayers during this time.
