Annette Edgerton, age 91, passed through the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, July 21st after being under Hospice care for the past month at Rivergate Terrace Nursing Home in Riverview, Michigan. Born to Mary (Burg) and David Smith on December 1, 1928 in Center Line, Michigan. She graduated from St. Clement Catholic High School in Center Line in 1947. She went on to marry Richard Edgerton on October 23, 1954.
Ann was a devout Roman Catholic and was a founding member of St. Dennis Catholic Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. For many years she volunteered at the church by washing and ironing the priest’s vestments and altar cloths, as well as making casseroles for funeral lunches. Ann also took great pride in hosting a table for the annual Advent Candlelight Tea at both St. Dennis & St. Vincent Ferrer churches for many years. Ann was an avid lover of crossword puzzles, doing at least 3 per day from the local newspapers. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy every night. Ann also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She often created wash cloths, blankets, and baby booties to give as gifts.
Ann is preceded in death by her brother Patrick Smith of Center Line and her dear daughter Jane; she is survived by her other loving children Tom, Dan (Janie) and Susan; sibling Claire (Ed) LaDuke of Livonia, and Aunt to Mary Beth (Dick) Lorenz of Northville, Vic (Joanne) LaDuke of Marquette, and David LaDuke of Livonia.
The family will greet friends at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home on Sunday, July 26th from 12pm until 6pm. Funeral service Monday at St. Vincent Ferrer at 10:00am. Interment to follow at St. Clement’s Cemetery in Center Line, Michigan.
