She was a wonderful mother, wife, Gramme, and friend. She built a family out of her love, strength, kindness, and pure joy for life. She enjoyed gardening, outdoor walks, volunteering, bowling, dancing and playing cards with her family and friends. She attended St. Mary’s parochial school, Wilbur Wright school, and is a 1958 graduate of John H. Patterson Co-Op High School. She was a member and secretary of the Patterson Co-Op Student Council, member of the Inter-Club Council and Beaverines.
Joni was a board member of the Beavercreek High School Athletic Boosters, mass coordinator at St. Albert’s the Great in Kettering, Ohio, and board member/Senior Regent (1994-95) of the female auxiliary of the Loyal Order of Moose (Women of the Moose Lodge# 73, Chapter #9).
She began working at the early age of fourteen at the pretzel bakery in Dayton, Ohio and her career included customer service representative at Dayton Power and Light Company, Carlson Marketing, Lazarus, and Standard Register. She also worked at the family owned IGA in Huber Town and Lebanon SuperValu.
As stated in her senior year Patterson Co-Op will, she wished to will to her little sister, Joyce, “my ability to make lots and lots of noise in the halls.” We know that she will dance and make lots of noise in heaven, as we hope to honor her with lots of noise, laughter, joy, and dancing in our remembrance of her.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. While we know this loss is one of the hardest things that we will experience, she will always be in our heart and memories. Until we meet again, we will love you always and forever.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in Joni’s name. Thank you.
