Gwen was born June 5, 1942 in Bryson City, NC and attended Swain High School. She retired from Rexham Corporation after twenty-five years of faithful service. Gwen split her time between Charlotte and Gulfport, Mississippi with her husband Donald ‘Roy’ Woodcock. Roy preceded Gwen in death on August 10, 2014.
Gwen is remembered as being a sweet, soft-spoken and mild-mannered lady. She never met a stranger and had a special love for babies and children. She loved her family dearly and they loved her just as much. She is also remembered for her love of reading and was an avid speed reader. She loved to watch the Hallmark Movie Channel. Family poker nights were her favorite, where her nickname was ‘Trudy’. There is so much more that could be written. But if you want the real story of Gwen aka “Little Gwen”, “Gwenny”, “Mee-Maw”, “Nay-Nay”, “Maw-Maw” “Grandma” and Momma, ask any of her family members and you will hear some great tales of this very special woman.
Survivors include her three children, Rodney Burnette and his wife, Carol; DeVoynne Cisneros and her husband, Salomon; and Connie Decker and her husband, Robert. Her grandchildren include – Christopher, Michelle, Michele, Tabitha, Ricky, Robbie, Jessica, Evan, Loftin, Rachel, Savannah and a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as special family members, Louise Goss and Cody Ruff.
Mrs. Woodcock’s family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 18 at McEwen – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte followed by a Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
