Asa H. Hoffpauir, Jr., 79, passed away January 18, 2021. He and his family spent 3 wonderful days sharing favorite memories, telling stories and laughing together. As he weakened, the family gathered around his bed and sang his favorite hymns. At times he was worshiping and singing a few words with us. Each of us got one more “Dad or Paw Paw” hug from him including his four grandchildren and his new great granddaughter. It was amazing how tight he could still hug. We could not have ask for a better goodbye.
He loved music and sang in local barbershop choruses and quartets for many years. But his favorite music was Southern Gospel. He was part of a special group of friends lovingly known as the Pine Grove Singers. They met once a week to sing and enjoy a meal together. He also enjoyed woodworking and made kitchen cabinets for several family members.
He worked in the office supply business all of his adult life.
He was a Christian his whole life and had attended Pine Grove Baptist Church for the last twelve years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend A.H. and Corine Spell Hoffpauir, and two sisters, Annette Bunch and Fannie Mae Chesson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Sarver Hoffpauir; daughter, Pam Clark and husband Gordon from Westlake; son, Randy Hoffpauir and wife Stacey from Franklin, TN; one brother, Harley Hoffpauir; four grandchildren, Kevin Clark, Marissa Hoffpauir Gambrell (Keenan), Christine Hoffpauir Brotzman (Austin) and Daniel Hoffpauir; one great granddaughter, Felicity Ann Brotzman.
Visitation will be held at Bellview Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 beginning at 10am until the time of services. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the church. Burial will be at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
