Ethelmae Walter passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021 at Hospice House North. She was born in Buhl, ID on December 22, 1925 to Chas F. Carson and Ethel Chandler. Because of her mother’s passing she was adopted at the age of 4 by the Reverend R.D. and Irene Walter. She spent most of her young life in Idaho.
Ethelmae graduated from the Baptist Missionary Training School, later named the Colgate Rochester Divinity School and started her career teaching preschool at Child Haven Preschool in Seattle, WA. She loved children and was a kind and loving teacher. Children responded to her love. She was an active 50 year member of the Seattle Baptist Church.
The last 13 years of her life have been spent at Holman Garden, a retirement community in Spokane Valley, WA. She enjoyed many activities with her friends at Holman. Ethelmae was deeply loved by her long-time friend Marion Voge.
Ethelmae is survived by her niece, Joan Hamilton of Spokane, WA, nephew David Walter of California, her dear friend Marion Voge, and Marion’s nieces, Kathy King and Karen Shrontz.
