Born in Aguadilla Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Francisco and Isolina Gonzalez she worked as a factory worker and stitcher for Cameo Curtains for many years before retiring.
Provi was a well-known and respected translator for the Greater New Bedford Region. She was a strong woman who was always in great spirits and had a heart of gold. She loved life and everyone around her. Her life’s work was giving to people in need.
She is survived by her children, Luis O’Cano of New Bedford, Orlando “Chico” O’Cano of New Bedford, David Gonzalez of Westport, Marisol Barboza of New Bedford, and Damaris O’Cano of New Bedford; a brother, Francisco Gonzalez of New Bedford; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gregory Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, Sulma Gonzalez, Anna Gonzalez, Jenny Gonzalez, Lydia Gonzalez, Felicita Gonzalez, Lorenzo Gonzalez, and Airene Gonzalez.
Her graveside service will be Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m. in WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. For online tribute/directions: www.waring-sullivan.com.
