Born in Poland in 1929 an only child, the family immigrated to Canada in 1930, when Joe was nine months old. In 1933 they moved to Edmonton, where Joe completed his public school education and university. In 1949 he and Joyce Holm were married and in October 2020, they celebrated their seventy-first anniversary. Joe was a Junior High school teacher for two years in Seba Beach, Alberta, then moved to the Edmonton Public School Board as a Junior high school teacher, vice-principal and principal of several Elementary Schools, over his thirty–five year career in education. He retired in 1985 and with Joyce purchased a winter home in Yuma, Arizona, USA. They made their permanent home in the Summer Village of Gull Lake until February 2020, when they took up residence in Summerwood Retirement Village of Sherwood Park. He leaves his wife, Joyce, daughter, Susan-Jane (Walter) Sudyk of Sherwood Park, sons, Richard of Argenta, British Columbia, Michael (Adrienne) Kischuk of Fort Saskatchewan, granddaughters, Laura Probst (Derek) of Sherwood Park, Sarah Downing (Tim) of Calgary, Elizabeth Kischuk of Fort Saskatchewan; and great-granddaughters, Rachel and Rebecca Downing. He will be missed.
