Dear Family, I extend my sympathy on the loss of Gene. He was always a fun person to be around. I will always remember the was Gene and Johnny would pile up their plates with food and place the dessert on top and then eat down.                   
As a kid I was always amazed as Gene and Johnny would do all kinds of tricks on the barn beams while grinning and laughing like monkeys high on Mt Dew.   
Gene always had a great time and was full of love for others.

I have known Gene as a friend and a ham radio operator for years. In particular he was very enthusiastic about Packet Radio. Gene treated you like he knew you all his life. He talked about farm life and shared many stories. He was a member of the MARS radio groups. Our condolences to the family for their  great loss. May peace be with all.

I have known Gene over the radio and phone for several years. He was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, always willing to help.  He helped many of us get setup with packet radio and would spend hours on the phone assisting.
It was an honor to serve with him in AMARS, and will miss his acting as Net Control.
May his good memories be a comfort to his family and us all.

Gene was a book of knowledge. He was an expert at radio theory and understood computer operating systems. Gene is going to be missed. 

I only knew Gene for a few years thanks to radio.  His eagerness to get involved with digital traffic and lend his steady voice as net control were an inspiration to all of us.  We will miss you my friend and thank you for the great memories.  God bless you and God speed.

My deepest condolences to all. I've known Gene for a few years only to quickly become a student of Ham Packet Radio of his. Gene guided myself and Steuben Couty EMA into Packet Radio. Something he was so very Passionate about, 3rd to his Family and his Tractors.

Thank your for your guidance, patience,  and friendship. Know you will be missed.

My prayers of comfort goes out to the family. Gene will be missed by the MARS Region Five  members. He was an inspiration and educator to us within the region. Thank you Gene for your servitude to your family, friends, and community.

I have known Gene over the Air Waves for a few years. His willingness to assist in moving us into the Digital Age was never held back. He was a mentor to many Radio Operations and keyboard enthusiasts. His unique voice will be missed, he is now what we affectionately refer to as a silent key. May God hold you dear as you enter the eternities.  73 Brother.

My wife and I have known Gene for forty years. During that time, Gene worked with me at the bakery while he still farmed at home. Away from work, Gene would sometimes set up a "Halloween Hayride" for some of his friends and associates. The folks who participated, will never forget the hard work that Gene put into the planning. If Gene would happen to bump into you, he would always invite you over, and if you were lucky, he would roll out one or two of his tractors. Special folks would even go for a ride. Nancy and I send our condolences to Gene's family. He will surely be missed!
