Betty Jean Tudor was born Kansas City, Kansas to Lucille Yocum and Harry Tudor. She attended Olathe High School, Olathe, Kansas. She discovered her life-long passion for Bridge while attending the University of Kansas. She met her husband, Joseph R. Brown, at KU during a bridge tournament. They married in 1954. After commuting between Kansas City and Lawrence for a year, in 1955 she earned her Bachelor of Science from KU’s Business School. During her career Mrs. Brown worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for her father’s business, Tudor Motors, and similar responsibilities with several other companies.
The Browns lived in the Prairie Village and Overland Park, Kansas area for over 60 years. In addition to bridge, she enjoyed playing tennis, particularly doubles. In 1986, she discovered the winter warmth of Florida and began spending time there each winter. They moved there permanently in 2014. She continued to play more bridge, tennis and added golf to her repertoire.

Mrs. Brown genuinely enjoyed being active in several organizations, including Kansas City Young Matrons, Saddle ‘n Sirloin Club, American Royal Queen Committee, Deerfield Country Club, Hillsboro LeBaron Condominiums, and Lighthouse Point Yacht Club.
Her husband’s career required him to travel extensively throughout the world. Whenever possible, she accompanied him. Personally, they both loved to travel, meet people, and experience different cultures. Her travel destinations included: Indonesia, Bali, Hong Kong, Kyoto, Egypt, Spain, Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand, Antalya, Turkey, Singapore, Thailand, Canada, Russia, Germany, China, Greek Islands, Wales, Italy, Tahiti, Bora Bora, France, Ecuador, Peru, Dubai, and Chile.
