Sheila Lindsay died February 3, 2021 at the age of 88 at Friendship Haven nursing home where she has been cared for over the last seven years. She was recently hospitalized for pneumonia and was not able to recover. Sheila’s children would like to thank Friendship Haven’s staff for their many years of caring service that supported both parents’ lives.
Born August 19, 1932 in Toronto, Canada to Seymour and Sally McDougall, she had an older sister, Anne, and a younger brother and sister, Peter and Janet. She attended Jarvis Collegiate and had an exciting career as a buyer for Toronto’s largest department store, Eaton’s.
Sheila married Donald Lindsay on September 1, 1956 in Toronto and moved to Austin, Texas immediately after to begin her new family. Her greatest joy was her three children, Doug, David, and Diane, and a close second, playing bridge. She enjoyed painting, participating in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary (Post 10462), her sorority, Sigma Beta Phi, and any form of socializing. Sheila and Don lived in Houston for the last 50 years.
Survived by her two sons, Doug and David in Houston, daughter Diane and husband Alfred Briones in Houston, half daughter, Lesa and husband Michael Springer in Seattle; grandchildren Marshall and Alison Cannon (Doug’s), Nicholas Mustacchia (Diane’s), and Molly, Nick, Blake and Carson Springer (Lesa’s); great-grandchildren Kennedy and Jude Springer; sister, Janet McDougall in Toronto; brothers-in-law Hugh & Kathryn Lindsay in College Station, Mark & Pat Lindsay in Bryan; numerous nieces and nephews on both the Lindsay and McDougall sides; and last, but not least, her best friend from Canada, Jeanne Campbell.
Predeceased by husband, Don on July 8, 2014; sister Anne (Dec 2, 2018), brother Peter; brother-in-law Jim Lindsay.
